Miles Otis Wright, 91, a long time resident of Haskell, TX, passed away December 16, 2017. A graveside service will be held at 2:00p.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Willow Cemetery with Mr. James McFadden and Roy Wright officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned from 6:00-7:00p.m., Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the funeral home, 304 n 2nd St., Haskell, TX
Miles was born June 29, 1926 in Comanche, to Rosie Berry (Corley) and James Addison Wright. Miles served in the Navy during WWII. He married Sue Wright on January 1, 1948 in Haskell. He was baptized at Paint Creek Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, coon hunting, and cooking breakfast; making the best gravy in the world. He was a hard worker, and loved the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. He was always there to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his two daughters, Shirley Wright of Rapid City, SD, and Becky Wright of Hawley; three sisters, Patricia Anderson and husband Ronnie of Mt. Pleasant, Rosalee Briscoe and husband Therman of Midland, and Mary Stover of Weatherford; two brothers, Roy Wright and wife Sue of Haskell, and Robert Wright; sister-in-law, Evelyn Wright; four grand-daughters, Cyndy Primm and husband Jarman of Hamlin, Elizabeth Olson and husband Ryan of Haskell, Melissa Espinosa and husband Teddy of Knox City, and DeeAnne Krebs and husband Nick of Rapid City, SD; five grandsons, Bill Friske and wife Tracy of Merkel, Richard Howeth and wife Tina of Hawley, Jason Howeth and wife Karen of Haskell, Nathan Rocha and wife Brittany of Abilene, and Joey Rocha and wife Belinda of Abilene; 24 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Susie Viola Wright; mother, Rosie (Corley); father, James Wright; daughter, Molly Friske; son-in-law, Bill Friske; three sisters, Ella Mae and Ruben Heavington, Maudie and Dee McFadden, and Argie and Jim McFadden; four brothers, Bill and Ana Lee Wright, Pete and Zenobel Wright, Vernon Wright, and Johnny Paul Wright.
