Dear Mrs. Byrd,
May God bless you in this time of grieving.

I fondly remember Dr. Byrd at OLOL in Recovery Room. I can still see him walking up to the stretcher of his patients. He was always so directed and concerned about them. He wasted no time and moved on to what he needed to do next. He was an excellent surgeon and was respected by the Baton Rouge community and all the doctors and nurses in our circle. I had not seen him in many years and was saddened to hear of his passing. His calling on earth was well done. God Bless the Byrd Family. ...

I was deeply saddened when I read of Dr. Byrd's passing, he was instrumental in my becoming involved in medicine. As a scrub tech at The General I always tried to do his cases as I always learned something from him when I did. He operated on my mother Kate a number of times and she thought he absolutely hung the moon, as did I.

I am a far better person for having known Dr. Byrd and I know he is visiting with my mother as I type. Rest peacefully for all eternity Dr. B, you deserve...
