Milton Barthe Obituary

Milton "Chink" Joseph Barthe passed away peacefully on October 8, 2016 at Tulane Medical Center. He was born on August 17, 1931 in Sunset, LA. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Loretta Domingue Barthe. His sons: Lane J Barthe (Cindy Dufrene), Kevin J Barthe (Penny Nichols); grandchildren: Kristy Barthe Kirby (Steve) and Brad Barthe. He was also a very proud grandfather of Brandon Barthe and Chloe Barthe and great-great granddaughter Alaya Barthe. He was raised in Grand Coteau and Lafayette, LA. He and Loretta were residents of Bridge City, LA for the last 60 years. He is preceded in death by his parents: Ernest Barthe and Elia Hanks Barthe. He is also preceded in death by his siblings: Andrea (Goon), Effie Melancon (Steve), Ethel Jatho (Edgar), Elton "Lolo" (Betty), Alice Burnet (Eugene), Nolan (Bertha) and Calise (Arlene). He is survived by his siblings: Elaine (Joanie Caliva) and Ashton (Maizie) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who he loved very much. He had a special bond with Debra and Loyd Campbell. He shared a comradery with Mark Campbell as Air Force Veterans. He was close to his cousin Bill Hulin and William Hulin. William had introduced him to his wife 65 years ago and were longtime friends. He enjoyed regular card games in his later years with his nephews Ray, Edgar and Norwood. He always enjoyed events and gatherings with his family. Chink was a US Air Force Veteran, Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4222 in Westwego, Democratic Central Committee Member, Politian, Volunteer Fireman in Bridge City, Gantry Operator at Avondale Shipyards and a Jefferson Parish Sherriff's Deputy. But his ideal job was as an owner/operator of a trucking business. Chink was always willing to lend a helping hand to whomever was in need and will be deeply missed by all who loved and admired him. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at Westside Leitz-Eagan, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday, October 15 at Martin & Castille Funeral Home, 802 Alfred St. in Scott, LA from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 1110 Old Spanish Trail in Scott, LA at 12:00 pm. Interment will take place at Saint Peter and Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org or to the Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org in Milton's name.
