CRENCHAW, Sr., Milton Milton Pitts Crenchaw, Sr. was born on January 13, 1919 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late civil rights leader and tailor Reverend Joseph C. Crenchaw and Ethel Pitts Crenchaw. He was the third of four children born to this union. His siblings, Joseph Crenchaw, Jr., Charles Crenchaw, and Elvie Crenchaw Watts preceded him in death. Milton P. Crenchaw, Sr. married Ruby Hockenhull, on December 22, 1942; to this union four children were born. His wife and oldest son, Milton P. Crenshaw, Jr., preceded him in death. At the age of 96, on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, God called upon Gabriel to sound his powerful horn to bring Dr. Milton P. Crenchaw, Sr., home. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughters, Dolores Crenchaw Singleton; Atlanta, Georgia and Countess Crenchaw Murphy; Jacksonville, Florida and son, Erwin (Dorel) Crenchaw, Washington, DC; seven grandchildren, Marc (Aprill) Crenshaw, Chicago, Illinois; Chris Crenchaw, Atlanta, Georgia; Treci (Milton) Watkin, Houston, Texas; Robert (Shannon) Singleton, Houston, Texas; Dexter (Jamila) Crenchaw, Atlanta, Georgia; Joshua Crenchaw, Atlanta, Georgia and Ruby Crenshaw, St. Paul, Minnesota; eight great-grandchildren, Alex Crenshaw, Caleb Crenchaw, Nina Simone Singleton, Peyton Crenchaw, Miles Chacon, Milton Watkin, III, Taylor Watkin and Braxton Singleton; sister-in-law, Millicent Welch Penn; first cousin, Marion Fowler Armstrong; special supportive family friend, Harold Bigelow; his beloved friend, Marian S. Torrence; a host of loving nieces, nephews, friends, colleagues and mentees. Public viewing on Sunday, November 22, 2015 from 12PM until 6PM.
