Funeral services celebrating the life of Milton Schrupp, age 89 of Norwood Young America were held at 11:00 AM Monday December 29, 2008 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America. Officiating was the Rev. Scott Gustafson. The organist was Art Fuchs. The congregational hymns were “Baptized Into Thy Name”, “I Fall Asleep In Jesus’ Wounds” and “Jesus Lover Of My Soul”. The soloist was Lawrence Biermann who sang “Jesu, Geh Voran”. Serving as casket bearers were Milton’s grandchildren Julie Evensen, Matthew Schrupp, Robert Schrupp, Timothy Schrupp, Katherine Schrupp, Joseph Schrupp, Jacob Schrupp, Jenna Schrupp and Jessica Schrupp. The honorary casket bearers were Mark Evensen, Jennifer Schrupp, Megan Schrupp, Beth Schrupp, Erin Schrupp, Shelly Ashton and William Ashton. Interment was in the church cemetery. Visitation and an evening prayer service was held on Sunday. Arrangements were with the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Norwood Young America.
Milton John Schrupp was born on December 17, 1919 in Camden Township the son of Fredrick W. and Augusta (Loehrs) Schrupp. He was baptized on Christmas day in 1919 by Rev. Baumhoefener at St. John’s Lutheran Church with his sponsors being Florence Pieper, Adolph Loehrs and John Schrupp. Milton was later confirmed in the faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church on April 8, 1933 by Rev. Abraham. Milton attended District 47 and later the St. John’s Lutheran School. He was united in marriage to Florence Mesenbring on September 26, 1945 at St. John’s Lutheran Church by Rev. Kramer. This union was blessed with children David and Gary. Milton suffered the death of his wife Florence on June 17, 1970. Milton was married to Evelyn Wigand Klancke on November 19, 1972 at the First Ev. Lutheran Church in Glencoe by the Rev. Henry Fry.
Milton operated a dairy farm in Young America Township. A lifetime member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Milton had served as the funeral usher from 1935 to 2001. He was in charge of the church’s memorial fund for many years, sang in the church choir and was a charter member of the church’s Prime Time organizations. Milton was a retired member of the Norwood Young America Fire Department, past chairperson of the Carver County Extension Agriculture Service for 10 years and a former 4-H leader. Milton enjoyed the time he spent with his many friends.
On Christmas day 2008, Milton Schrupp entered his eternal rest at the Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care Unit at the age of 89 years and 8 days. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Florence, brothers Melvin and Fred, sister Florence Beneke, step-son Sgt. Charles Klancke.
Milton is survived by his wife Evelyn Schrupp of Norwood Young America; sons David Schrupp (wife: Pamela) of Paynesville, Gary Schrupp (wife: Susan) of Norwood Young America; grandchildren Julie Evensen (husband: Mark), Matthew Schrupp, Robert Schrupp (wife: Jennifer), Timothy Schrupp (wife: Megan), Katherine Schrupp, Joseph Schrupp (wife: Beth), Jacob Schrupp (wife: Erin), Jenna Schrupp (fiancé: Ben Rodman), Jessica Schrupp (friend: Jesse Ganser); great grandchildren Alex Schrupp, Evan Schrupp, Lindsey Evensen; step-daughter Shirley Klancke; step-grandchild Shelly Ashton (husband: William); step-great grandchildren Breana Ashton and Charles William Ashton; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Pearl Schrupp, Helen Ramlow, Allen and Marion Wigand, Lilah Mackenthun; as well as other relatives and many dear friends.
