Many many years ago when Mina's son Gene and I were together, Mina took me under her wing like a fairy godmother of sorts. She made a traditional Russian meal at my request, she took me to my first fancy hair salon where I got highlights and my first blowout (I had no idea my hair could be shiny and straight) and bought me a wardrobe of beautiful professional clothes as I was starting my first job after college. Her generosity meant the world to me. I will always cherish my memories of Mina....
