I was stunned and saddened to read the news of the passing of Nguyen van Minh. I did not know he was ill as he seemed in good health when I last saw him at an exhibition of his works at the French Embassy.
I saw him more frequently when he had a gallery in Georgetown quite a few years ago. In fact he visited the house where I still live and I recall vividly the pleasure and satisfaction I felt in showing him a number of his works which I acquired from him during the four years...

Dear Bac Minh,
I cried when I heard the news you had passed away. You have entered my life many many years ago through art. However, the very first time we met was July 4th, 2004. Flew half way across the globe, I missed an opportunity to spend July 4th with my family. I spent it with you instead. As if you read my mind, after our greetings, you were very quick to point out, you have the exact name as my beloved father. You said, "...imagine if your father is still alive..."...

Anne and all the Nguyen family,
A precious one has past on, and a voice you loved is stilled,
A place is vacant in your heart, which never can be filled.
And after a lonely heartache and many a silent tear,
Always a beautiful memory, of the one you loved so dear.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.

Anne and the Nguyen Family,
My deepest sympathy to you and your family during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers have been with you since I heard of the death of your father and I know you will be brave in your sorrow as he would have wanted you to be. Stay strong and know that his memory will be with you always.

I am privileged to have known Bac Minh. He was a loving and generous person and one of the greatest Vietnamese artists. His passing is a great loss.

To The Nguyen Family,
I wanted to write and let you know how much Andrew and I appreciated
and
respected your dad - and that even though you must be somewhat relieved
for
him that his suffering on this earth has finally come to an end, I know
you
will miss him. Andrew and I are also very saddened that he is gone.
With
the death of Andrew’s grandfather literally occurring in the same 24 hr
period, we have been thinking a lot...

Daddy,
I tried to be strong for you by not crying. I should be happy that you are now in better place and you are no longer suffering. But I can't daddy.
You are such a legacy that we are so proud of and we are priviledge to be your children.
