Miriam Cullum Dawson LAURENS -- Miriam Cullum Dawson, age 87, of 1 Martha Franks Drive, and wife of Robert Henry Dawson, Sr., passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2104, at Hospice House of Laurens County. Born in Charlotte, NC, she was a daughter of the late William Clide and Luel Cato Cullum. Miriam was a graduate of Pfeiffer College in Misenheimer, NC, Lander University in Greenwood, SC, and School of Social Work, UNC in Chapel Hill, NC. She retired after 38 years as the Director of Social Services at Connie Maxwell Children's Home in Greenwood, SC. After her retirement, she was active for a number of years with Meals on Wheels in Laurens County. Miriam was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church in Clinton and regularly attended Martha Franks Rasor Chapel in Laurens. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are her son, Robert Henry Dawson, Jr. and wife Ruth Anne of Liberty, SC; sister, Sue Sharpton and husband Jim of Laurens, SC; three grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, two great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren, and two nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 15, 2014, at Martha Franks Rasor Chapel, conducted by Rev. Dr. Russell Dean. A private burial will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Family members will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the chapel immediately following the memorial service.
