Miriam “Midge” Mong, 80, formerly of Huey, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 6, 2025. Born on February 21, 1944, in Huey, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Evelyn (Wilson) Wagner. On June 25, 1966, Midge married Larry “Leachie” Mong. He preceded her in death on June 16, 2017.
Midge graduated from Union High School in 1962. She went on to work for the United States Coast Guard as a Secretary in Washington DC. Midge always talked about these years with such excitement and would tell stories involving her friends Irvena, June, and Big Libby. Midge then moved back and married her dear beloved Leachie. She was a proud mother and took great joy as Homemaker for several years while raising Troy and Libby. She held several jobs throughout the years and enjoyed them all. Midge’s favorite title of all was that of “Eeeze” to her grandchildren which they called her. She took pride in the uniqueness of that name! In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, crafting, ceramics, shopping, and visiting with neighbors. Midge was an exceptional seamstress and made numerous gowns for family, friends, and locals of all ages.
Midge enjoyed traveling all over this great country for many special occasions with extended family and friends. Some of her journeys included Alaska with the Wynkoops, Iowa with the Wagners, Florida with many Mong relatives, and adventures with her siblings. There was always a good time to be had when the seven Wagner siblings were together. Two family traditions that Midge loved attending are the Mong Family Reunion in Cook Forest and the annual Mong Christmas Eve gathering at Baker Street Church of God. Midge loved writing and telling her stories. She derived much of her fashion sense from her young adult years in Washington, DC, often stating “Leopard Print” is a color! Midge was a lifetime member of the Baker Street Church of God.
Midge is survived by her son, Troy Mong, and his wife, Joyce, of New Bethlehem, her daughter, Libby Quinn, and her husband, Jonathan, of Butler, two grandchildren; Gavin and Evelyn Quinn of Butler, three brothers; Ronald Wagner of NC., Harry “Bake” Wagner, and his wife, Jane, of East Brady, Charles “Chuck” Wagner, and his wife, Kathy, of OH., one sister, Linda “Binnie” Damkot, and her husband, Paul, of WI, one sister-in-law, Brenda Wagner of Corsica, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in- law, Lola “Poppy” and Virgil Salizzoni, a brother, Ray Wagner, and a sister-in-law, Louise Wagner.
Midge’s family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Varner Funeral Home in Rimersburg and Friday, January 10, 2025 from 10 to 11AM at Baker Street Church of God. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Baker Street Church of God in Rimersburg with Pastor John Milliron, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Rimersburg Cemetery.
The family suggests flowers or monetary donations may be made to the Baker Street Church of God, 277 Baker Street, Rimersburg, PA 16248 or Hope for Your Future, P.O. Box 643, Rimersburg, PA 16248.

Troy, Libby, Gavin & Evelyn - I have so many fond memories of Midge from the time I was young to now. She's never changed as a warm, loving soul with a love of life, family, friends and GAMES. I had the most fun playing games at her house in Huey, visiting her at Christmas with the whole house lit up and full of decorations, with her soft spoken words full of love and funny stories, her laughter that will always be in my memory and for being my mom's best craft companion. Dad and Mom had so...
