VOLTENBURG, Miriam C. (Amy) - Of Grand Blanc, age 83, died Monday, August 25, 2008 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Memorial service will be held at 1:30PM Thursday, August 28, 2008 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Grant H. Wessel officiating. Visitation 6-9PM Wednesday and 12:30PM Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Miriam was born to Madeline and Stanley Hughson in Bay City, Michigan on February 23, 1925, and raised by her father and lifelong mother, Florence, after Madeline's death in 1931. She lived in Flint and Grand Blanc, where she enjoyed raising her children and grandchildren. Miriam's strength through many losses and challenges, and her love for her family is her legacy to her children. She was the co-owner of Beutler's Lawn and Garden, where she served customers for over 28 years. She married Clarence W. (Bud) Amy in 1949 and they had 4 children before his death in 1968. She then married Robert Voltenburg in 1980, who survives her. She is also survived by her children, Linda (Steve) Lewis of Empire, Michigan, Robert Amy and Greg Amy, both of Davison and Kathy (John) Robinson of Pinckney; her beloved grandchildren, Kira Salem, Sandy Lewis, Madelyn Amy, Stanton Amy, Jacob Robinson, Matthew Robinson and Zachary Robinson; beloved sister, Lauraine Askler of Nashville; nephew and nieces.
