Mitchell Bloomberg Obituary

BLOOMBERG, MITCHELL R., left this world peacefully on May 24, 2013. He is survived by his wife Margie, the love of his life, sons Adam and Noah (Lindsay) and beautiful baby granddaughter Evelyn, his mother Florence and sister Marsha (Eric). He brought love, comfort, respect, passion and intense devotion to his family. Mitch grew up in Roslyn, New York where he and Margie met, dated & fell in love. Mitch graduated from Franklin & Marshall College and then from the university of Miami Law School, where he was a member of the law review. A lawyer's lawyer, Mitch excelled due to his keen intellect and enormous talent, practicing law at the Miami-Dade County State Attorney's Office & as a partner at Fine Jacobson, Adorno & Yoss and Hinshaw & Culbertson. Mitch possessed a commanding personality, great sense of humor and was adored and respected by all who had the privilege to know him. In addition to family, friends, and the law, Mitch loved all sports, especially the New York Yankees and the University of Miami Hurricanes. He also enjoyed playing golf, skiing and going to the gym. A warrior with intense determination, Mitch consistently amazed family, friends and physicians by battling his illness with remarkable courage for over 11 years. He was a true inspiration to all and raised the spirits of family and friends with his sense of humor, willpower, strength of character and unprecedented optimism. However, no words could ever possibly capture the spirit of Mitch. While Mitch's passing leaves a huge hole in our hearts, we are comforted by the knowledge that he significantly enriched the lives of all who knew him. A celebration of Mitch's life will take place on Sunday, June 2, 2013, beginning at 10:30AM at Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapels at Mt. Nebo, 5900 S.W. 77 Ave., Miami, Florida 33143. If you would like to make a donation in Mitch's memory, the family suggests the American Cancer Society.

I wish to express my sincere condolences on the loss of such a great man. He had such a huge personality and even bigger heart. He always had the most positive things to say, the most positive outlook on life and always, always took time to express his love and adoration for his wife, his sons and his granddaughter. He was one of the most humble men I know. What a gift he has given to have just known his soul. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends he held so dear to his heart.
Rest in peace Mitch

Mitch was the smartest person in Miami Law School in the early 70's--you could cite "Bloomberg" as an authority. But more importantly, Mitch was the nicest person as well. He was a great, warm-hearted, caring guy who will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Mitch was one of the nicest, sweetest, most caring attorneys I knew. And those words don't usually go in one sentence together. He will be missed by so many. My hearts go out to your entire family at this time.

Margie and family, my deepest condolences for the loss of such a wonderful man. As you know, Mitch and I first met at the State Attorney's Office in the late 1970's / early 1980's. It was quite a surprise to start working with him again so many years later at Hinshaw! May you find peace in the days and years to come! May Gold bless you and your family and know that Mitch now rests peacefully with Him.

Margie, Noah, Adam, and extended family,

My heartfelt condolences go out to you all. Words cannot express how sadden I am to know Mitch is no longer with us. Though his memory and spirit will always remain dear, I truly hope the tears you have today will be replaced with smiles and laughter, when the many great times shared are less hurtful to reflect upon.

It was an honor knowing and working for Mitch. He was genuine. He took no bull, but lived life gratefully. Margie, you were his “girl” - He loved you and the boys so much! Noah, your dad saw his younger-self through you and was so very proud of you. Adam, you were like your mom – tough as nails but a giving soul. Mitch was everyone's big teddy bear. He was loyal and such a caring human being – not a candidate for attorney stereotyping. I will never forget His 50th birthday at A&Z. He was so surprised and embarrassed – we finally got Him (hopefully the collage of pictures still exists somewhere). Mitch, may you be in a better place looking down at us with that smile and contagious laugh of yours. Thank you for the impact you had in my life and always having the time to care and lend support when needed. You are a gift to many and will be truly missed, but always remembered.

With great love and respect,

Lissette M. Plasencia (formally Rodriguez-Diaz)

From the time our firm first merged with what was then Adorno & Zeder, it became apparent that there were very few people who I could absolutely count on to have the moral fiber and common sense to unwaveringly make the right decision , and have the courage to stand by it, even in the face of overwhelming odds. Mitch was one of those few, I will miss him greatly, and his loss is a profound one for all of us who had the privilege of knowing him. Margie, please accept my profound sympathy and prayers for you, Adam and Noah. Al Whitaker

Mitch was a wonderful boss and friend. I will miss sitting in his office and listening to his stories, as well as telling him mine. I will miss going to get his lunches. I will miss hearing him call out my name. I will simply miss him.

I haven't seen Mitch in years, but we were children together in Roslyn and I have always had fond memories of playing "three flies up" with him against the wall of my house. He taught me a lot of what I know about baseball, and helped turn me into the ferocious Yankee fan I am. When I go to the game tonight, I will drink a beer in his memory. My heart goes out to his family, particularly to Florence and Marsha who I have always loved and admired. You are all among my best childhood memories.

Mitch was a dear friend from my Roslyn days with a huge appetitie for good fun, food and sports not necessarily in that order.
Speaking with him at the reunions brought back the memories of taking his beater to Roosevelt Raceway or Yonkers and losing our hard earned cash from our summer jobs but enjoying every mnute of it.
Rest in Peace my friend.

Mitch was one of the fixtures of our wonderful firm. His intellect and humor will be missed.

I will be at my daughter's graduation on Sunday and may not be able to honor Mitch with you all. Rest assured, however, that my thoughts and prayers are with you.
