Mitchell George Marczewski

NASHPORT: Mitchell George Marczewski, 76, went home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 22, 2013.

He was a retired sheet metal worker for National Acme Co. in Cleveland, a major manufacturer of machine tools. For the past five years he lived in Nashport with his son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren.

He was born May 12, 1937 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, a small gold mining camp. His parents, Jacob and Anna (Lipiec) Marczewski, immigrated to Canada from Poland sometime after World War I.

Jacob worked in the local gold mines and Anna took care of their six children. In the late 1950's, Mitch immigrated to the United States and joined the Air Force, eventually serving as a crew chief on B-52 bombers based in Texas and Mississippi. He also served in the Strategic Air Command's 75th Bombardment Squadron at Loring AFB, Maine.

He is survived by four children, Mitchell C. ( Sharon) Marczewski of Nashport, Gregory Marczewski/Rick Pierce of Willoughby, Susan Marczewski of Willowick and John Marczewski of Wickliffe; plus several siblings and cousins residing in Cleveland and Canada.

He was especially proud of his grandchildren, Jason, John Jr., Michael, Mitch Jr., Jane, Andrew and Katelyn; and many nieces and nephews.

He enjoyed talking about airplanes, listening to polka music, and was honored to be called "Dziadzio" by anyone ("Grandpa" in Polish).

He came to know Christ later in life and prayed that his family would also know Him in a personal way.

A private family service will be held with burial at Irville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any church or outreach that preaches the gospel.

Not sure what to say?

My sympathies to all the family. I have fond memories of Mitch from the time he worked at National Acme with my father, Sam Barresi. He came to the house a few times and we went to yours for dinner. When John was born, I babysat you three older ones daytime until your father came home. I heard something in the news about Canada just now and your father´s name was in my mind. God bless your father!

So sorry to hear of your loss. So thankful he is rejoicing in Heaven right now! Praying for you all

Mitch - I'm so sorry for the loss that you and your family are experiencing right now. I'm sending prayers to you all for comfort, peace, and strength at this difficult time.

I know it is hard to have to say good bye to "Dziadzio". We must remember that this is not where we belong. We belong in heaven in the presence of the Father. What a glorious day thing it must be to be in a new body able to fully worship. I know you all will miss him but share your memories and rejoice in his new life. You will all be in my prayers.

Praying that the Father brings extra comfort to your family at this time.

So Sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May you experience the Spirit of God during this time of remembrance. For every tear shed, may joy quickly take its place as you remember times spent with him. He is rejoicing for sure in the presence of our Lord!

Our thoughts are with you!
