Mitsuo Ogata Obituary

Mitsuo Ogata
December 4, 1945 - April 18, 2021
Sacramento, California - Mitsuo "Mits" Ogata was born on December 4, 1945 and passed away peacefully on April 18, 2021 in Sacramento, CA. Mits was the youngest of six siblings, preceded in death by his parents, Kiyotake and Tomeo Ogata, two brothers, Kiyoshi and Masaru, and one sister, Noriko Okusako.
He is survived by his two sisters, Terry Kiriu and Patricia Ogata, two sons, Aaron (Jennifer) and Jayson (Jennifer), and four grandchildren, Aaron Jr, Danielle, David, and Madelyn. Mitsuo was born in the Tule Lake internment camp. After the war, his family settled in Lodi, California where he attended Tokay High School. He lived most of his adult life in Sacramento working over 40 years for the State of California as a Branch Manager all while being legally blind. Mits enjoyed fishing the local rivers and lakes, coaching his son's baseball teams, and spending time with his four grandchildren.
His family is having a small private memorial service due to the current pandemic.

MITs was an exceptional human being. There was not a shred of hatred or bitterness in his heart, just peace, joy and contentment. He will definitely be missed by all who loved him, and we are legion. God speed, Mits. Heaven is waiting for you.

Where and how do I even begin to express my appreciation and love for a man who mentored me for years and took me under his wing as if I was his own? He helped me feel safe after moving from Willits to the big city, even though he would laugh at me every time I called it the city. Mits was truly one of the greatest men I have known. He taught me so much and I will forever be grateful. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Rest In Peace my friend. You will always hold a special place in my heart. ❤
