The Reverend Doctor Molly Davis Scott met our Lord our Savior on December 16, 2020.

Molly was the only child of unique parents who raised her in the oil fields of Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi before settling in Houston, Texas. Her greatest loves were serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, loving her husband the Reverend Doctor James Britton Scott, watching the development of her daughters and their families, and encouraging pastors and congregations in ministry.

Molly is preceded in death by her mother Mary Ella Shirey Davis of Magnolia, AR and her father D.K. (Dewey) Davis of Mount Holly AR. She is survived by her husband the Reverend Dr. James B. Scott originally from Manitoba, Canada who currently resides in Tulsa, OK; her two daughters who live in Fort Worth, TX: Kathryn Scott and Elizabeth Jenswold and her husband Jonathan and their daughter Katherine; from Dallas: her step-daughters Katherine Stamper and her son Payton, and Brenda Scott Hayley (who also precedes her in death). She is also survived by her aunt Janie Foreman of Okemah, OK and brother and sister-in-law Dennis and Iris Scott of Manitoba, Canada.

Molly was an ordained elder of The United Methodist Church, a doctoral graduate of Fuller Theological Seminary, Perkins School of Theology for master’s degree, Southern Methodist University for bachelor’s degree and Bellaire High School in Houston, TX. She received numerous awards and recognition throughout her life including the prestigious Lifetime Award of Innovative Development Service at World Vision, the lifetime award for development from E.D.M. She was the first woman in Christian fundraising at World Vision, one of the first women to have been bestowed a ministry degree at Perkins, the first woman to receive a Doctor of Ministry degree at Fuller and with her husband Jim, were the first clergy couple to graduate with those honors together. Molly was a distinguished and recognized figure in theology having served on many ministry and higher education boards. Dr. Molly Scott and her husband are the authors of fifteen books.

Not sure what to say?

I have thought of this whole family so many times over the years. When Jim, Molly, Laura & Katie Scott moved to Campbell River B.C. and lived two doors down from our family the Rogers, I babysat Laura & Katie many times & spent time in their home as well as they spent time in our family home. They were so loved & missed by us all when they left CampbellRiver. I just recently discovered Molly's obituary and was so sad to hear of her passing but know she is with our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ....

I am sorry to hear of her passing. Both Glen and Cheri have passed now. It has been may years, but you and Molly were thought out often. God bless you and your family.

Molly and I had been friends at SMU. We shared the same name and were happy about that. Then some years later we reconnected in Eureka Springs. AR. Jim and Molly lived there for a while and I really enjoyed getting together again. She gave me much encouragement with the educational projects that I was interested in. What a spirit Molly shared with so many.

Friend and spiritual guide from Jim and Molly's days in Irving, TX. Thank you for your guidance.

We just learned of Molly's passing and are so sad for the earthly loss of this amazing woman and friend. Jim, our thoughts are with you and the family. Molly was special and heaven's gain is our loss.

I remember Molly from when she was working for World Vision and Jim was the pastor at East Side Christian Church in Long Beach, California. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out, gracious and compassionate. My heart goes out to the entire family, and I pray the Comforter will bring you peace.

Molly was an inspiration to me in my early years in ministry in the Arkansas Annual Conference. Her life has blessed many through her teachings and mentoring. My prayers are with her family.

Praying Grace sufficient for the day for you, Jim & your family. Molly was an inspiration to many, certainly me.

Jim, My prayers are with you in your loss. I greatly benefited from our work together with Bishop Huie.
