Mona was a great friend to me. She was generous, wise, funny, delightfully irreverent, supportive, and courageous. I met her when she was in law school, and I knew instantly that the gutsy transition on which she'd embarked was going to be a great thing for her and for her future clients. I also knew that the legal profession had better fasten its seatbelt as Mona took her oath. She was a great advocate and enjoyed that part of lawyering, but she really was in it for the justice. My condolences to the family. I met Mrs. Gross in the 1980s when I was a graduate student in the BUMP program at a holiday party. She was kind and very supportive, a very supportive and energetic lady.
