Monica Marie Gadient, age 19 of Goodhue, died unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, April 6, 2011 at her college dorm in Winona, where she was currently attending her freshman year at Winona State University. Monica was born on November 8, 1991 in Red Wing, the second child of Bill and Brenda (Nardinger) Gadient. She was baptized, had First Communion, and was confirmed at St. Columbkill Catholic Church. She also volunteered with religion class and helped with Vacation Bible School. In 2008, she went on the Appalachian Mission Trip in Vanceburg, Kentucky. She attended school in Goodhue, where she had participated in basketball, volleyball, choir, FFA, FCCLA, yearbook, Principles of Technology Super Mileage Car, helped in elementary art, the music programs, and spent a lot of time in the industrial technology room. She graduated in 2010. She liked Disney movies, being outside, animals, hiking the bluffs, fishing, eating, cooking, baking, babysitting, and reading. She enjoyed being with her family and friends, and will be greatly missed by all! She is survived by her loving family: parents, Bill and Brenda of Goodhue; sister and brothers, Alicia, Joel and Travis, all at home; grandparents, Bill Sr. and Kay Gadient of Goodhue, Floyd and Arvilla Nardinger of Lake City; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Brendan; and three uncles, Darrell "Duke" Nardinger, Steve Ryan, and John Gadient. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 11 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Columbkill Catholic Church in Belle Creek, with Father Bruce Peterson officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held AT THE CHURCH on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. Active pallbearers will be Ethan Tutewohl, Justin Dicke, Dustin Majerus, Trey Kehren, Tim Gadient, Jeff Majerus and Mark Stehr. Honorary pallbearers will be Nicole Ryan, Amy Gadient, Gena Gadient, Tiffany Huneke, Taylor Nardinger, Gabrielle Prebe, Vanessa Voth and Brittany Erhardt.
