Monlue Elizabeth Burks, 85, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Diversicare in Amory. She was born November 25, 1939. She retired after working 25 years in the Fulton Grammar School cafeteria. She then owned and operated Monlue’s Flower and Beauty Shop for more than 40 years. In her earlier years, she and her husband enjoyed fishing, camping, going to flee markets, and dirt car racing, where she was always entered in the powder puff division. In her later years, she enjoyed being with family and watching the Golden Girls.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 16, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Larry Tramel officiating. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery near Vina, AL.
Survivors include one son-in-law, Larry Tramel; two grandchildren, Lee Tramel (Jana), and Shualena Robertson (William); five great grandchildren, Kassi Tramel, Eli Drumm, Cody Robertson, Audree Tramel, and Kristanie Busby; three brothers, Frankie Lucas, Roger Lucas, and Roy Lee Lucas; several other extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, ZL Burks; one daughter, Debra Kay Tramel; two brothers, Jessie Lucas and Wayne Lucas; and her parents.
Pallbearers will be William Robertson, Eli Drumm, Lee Tramel, Jerry Holiday, Tim Burks, Tony Simons, and Russ Simons.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
