Pastor Teachenor confirmed me and most of my siblings at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, on Telegraph Ave in Berkeley. Karl and I were in the same class. There were about 10 of us in the class, and we all did our due diligence with memorizing Bible verses, Luther's Small Catachism, and such. I remember many fun times with the "youth" at Bethlehem: bike rides in Golden Gate Park, caroling for the "shut-ins", the Halloween parties, Christmas pageants, and Easter breakfasts. Remembering with fondness, Pastor Teachenor, who many years ago, was our Interim Pastor at Mt. Zion. Loved his sense of humor and laugh! His wife had beautiful children's messages. What a delightful couple. Our sympathy to his family.

The few times we met have a special place in my heart. That is not only because it happened while visiting the United States. It is because each time we had the preference being and staying with friendly, warm and hospitable persons: Monroe, Agnelsa, their children and all the other warmhearted and open-minded family members.

I've always remembered Pastor Teachenor's kindness and his sense of humor. He had a great laugh. He was also a good sport, and let us create a Haunted House for Halloween at Bethlehem Church.
