Monte was my uncle and I always adored him. When I was a little girl, I used to go with he and my aunt, Jean, over to his parent's house. He would take me in the backyard to see a giant tortoise that they had and play with his beautiful collie. The highlight of every summer was to ride the train from Clovis to Carlsbad and spend a week with them. He would take me up to the river to ride the rides (even if I threw up almost every time).
