Basagic Funeral Home - Franklin Obituary

With broken hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, Morgan Lee Hedrick, age 25 of Upper Tract, WV, as the result of a tragic car accident on Sunday, August 24, 2025, in Grant County, WV. She was born January 25, 2000 in Harrisonburg, VA, the daughter of Charles F and Renee (McCutcheon) Hedrick of Franklin, WV. The loss is devastating to her family and friends and the pain is unimaginable and unbearable. Morgan and her fiance, Alex Ritter planned to marry this October 25 and there aren't any words to adequately describe his loss.

Morgan was a 2018 graduate of Pendleton County High School. She attended Pierpont Community College in Fairmont, WV, and received her pin as Veterinary Technician. Morgan was employed by Pendleton County Schools and North Central West Virginia University Veterinary Emergency Clinic.

Morgan was a beautiful, bright, kind, devoted, and very unique person, with a passion for caring for animals. She touched many lives and leaves behind treasured memories for those that knew her. Morgan did not care about impressing anyone, but she left an everlasting impression on everyone's heart. She illuminated her environment with her spirit, her personality was infectious and she created a ripple effect of enthusiasm. Morgan was genuine and had a zest for life that was inspiring to her friends.

In addition to her parents (Charles & Renee) and fiance (Alex), Morgan leaves behind to cherish her memory: grandmother, Patricia Hedrick of Franklin; grandfather, Guy McCutcheon (Shirley Sisson) of Franklin, WV; 2 sisters, Courtney Deeds and husband Donald of Wake forest, NC; Maggie Hedrick and husband Michael Hudgins of Indianapolis, IN; 3 nieces, Prya Deeds of Wake Forest, NC, Layla Hudgins of Indianapolis, IN, Addie Deeds of Wake Forest, NC; a nephew, Calvin Deeds of Wake Forest, NC.; her cats, Mika, Milo, Kitty; her dogs, Honey, Chopper, Dutchess; her snakes, Pesto, Sativa, Socket; and her pet rat, Mundy. Morgan was preceded in death by: her grandmother, Nancy Hanna McCutcheon; and her grandfather, John Worth Hedrick.

In honoring Morgan's wishes, her body has been cremated and a Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, 3-6 PM at Living Faith Church, with Pastor Steve Teter officiating. Memorials may be made to Upper Tract Rescue Squad, POB 1290, Upper Tract, WV 26866 or flowers that are non-toxic to animals. Memories and words of comfort may be left at www.basagic.com or on Facebook at Basagic Funeral Home.
