MORRIS DICK Obituary

Morris Dick, 80, of El Paso, Texas, passed away on September 16, 2017. He was a beloved husband and father, and a friend to many in the El Paso community. Morris was born June 13, 1937, in Chelsea, Massachusetts, and graduated from Chelsea High School in 1956. He then went into the military and served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was then stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso and Camp Bullis in San Antonio. Once he left the service, he began working in El Paso at ClarkLift (FMH), where he was in management for several years. In 1968, Morris met Carolina Dick, the love of his life. They eloped to Sierra Blanca and had two children within a few years of each other, Carolyn and David, whom they raised in El Paso. He and his wife, Carolina, also owned a tax business, and they ran Dicks' Income Tax service for over 50 years. Morris is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Knopf (Kris) and son, David Dick (Stephanie), both of San Antonio. He also had one surviving brother, Philip Dick; six grandchildren, David Dick II, Ericcson Meier, Logan Dick, Kailyn Meier, Ian Meier, and MyKayla Dick; three stepdaughters, Gloria Bond, Martha Drusina, and Esther Hinson; step grandchildren Judy Hinds, Michael Briggs, Raquel Deal, Christine Bond, Alexandria Figueroa, and Candice Chapman. He also had several nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Kaufman Dick; father, Morris Dick, who died three months before he was born; brothers, Nathan Dick, Bob Dick and George Dick; one step grandson, Vince Carlevale; and his beautiful wife, Carolina Dick, who died in 2004. Morris loved golfing, and formed many lifelong friendships with his golfing group, ChiChi Unlimited. His witty humor gained him many friends, especially lifelong friends Ernie and Yolie Herrera, and he made a lasting impression on everyone he met. We will miss his great attitude and his endless compassion for those less fortunate. A special thank you to the staff at the Village Inn on Airways, and the wonderful staff at Las Palmas Medical Center, for taking such good care of him in his final years. He fought the most valiant battle against cancer, and did it on his terms. Goodbye, Dad. We will continue to cheer on the Red Sox in your honor and sing Sweet Caroline just for you. A visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home (Central) on Thursday, September 21, 2017, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 10 AM, with Rabbi Benjamin Zeidman officiating. A funeral procession will be held from the funeral home prior to the service at 9 AM. Following the service, there will be a Celebration of Life gathering at Lone Star Golf Club, 1510 Hawkins Blvd, and we encourage everyone to wear their favorite golf shirt in his honor. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Those wishing to sign Morris' guestbook may do so at www.funerariasdelangel.com.

Dear Carol and David,
Just learned of your Dad's passing. Sorry for your loss. He was a very special person and I always looked forward to seeing him and his doggies. He always made me laugh and never lost that Boston accent. I helped your parents for many years at GECU.
He is at peace now with your Mom. God Bless your family.

Morris Dick, what can I say about that wonderful man. He became a husband, stepfather and a grandfather within 24 hours, most people can't say that. Yep, my unscheduled arrival interrupted their honeymoon. They were called back to Fort Bliss due to distress for my Mom and myself, he never hesitated! I always knew their anniversary and he knew my birthday, sometimes he would ask for my age, didn't mind, became a joke between us. They would always have my brother and I from Houston at least twice a year, for that I am forever gratefull. Otherwise I would have missed out on all the WONDERFUL memories growing up with my Grandparents, Carol, David, Mike, Raquel and Vince. He treated us all the same, whether we were good or needed discpline. He will forever be missed and always hold a special place in my Heart, I LOVE YOU PAPA!!!!!
