Abbeville, LA----A Homegoing Celebration for Morris "Bear" Eugene Wright, Sr., 85, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at Greater Pleasant Green Baptist Church, 822 I. J. Joiner Street, Abbeville, LA.

Pastor M. C. Wright will be officiating the funeral services.

Interment will follow at Greater Pleasant Green Church Cemetery in Abbeville, LA.




Visitation will be held at the church Tuesday, September 18, 2012 from 9:00 A.M. until time of services.


Morris was born October 10, 1926 in Abbeville, LA, to the union of the late Foster and Althea Robinson Wright.




He entered eternal rest on Monday, September 10, 2012 at Abbeville General Hospital in Abbeville, LA.


Morris was a lifelong member of Greater Pleasant Green Baptist Church where he served as a deacon; member of the Male Chorus, The Laymen's League and attended Sunday School.

He was a retired bus driver for Vermilion Parish School Board. He was currently employed by the City of Abbeville with the Department of Parks and Recreation.

Morris was preceded in death by his parents, two siblings: Marian W. Greene and Rev. Murphy C. Wright, Sr.




Morris leaves many cherished memories with his wife Marion Bessard Wright of Abbeville, LA; his five children: Morris E. (Marilyn) Wright, Jr., Terry L. Hall and Tarell L. Wright all of Abbeville, LA; Margaret L. (Lawrence) Campbell of Hanover Park, IL and Kenneth E. (Laurel) Moss-Kiah, Philadelphia, PA; one brother: Minor Wright of Abbeville, LA; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends who loved him dearly and will miss his presence.

I am sadden to learn of Mr Wright's passing. I remember as a child growing up in Kaplan he was a good friend of my Dad,(Clarence Francis).When Mr.Wright visited our home he was always a man that I knew talked with knowledge of the things he spoke of. My sympathy and prayers are with the family right now . Mr. Wright has a place in heaven.
