Not sure what to say?

Dear Cox family, I am terribly sorry to hear about Sam's passing. I attended Martin Luther King Elementary from 1st through half the year of 5th grade. Sam was a classmate in 3rd and 5th grade. I remember Sam as an easy going guy with a great sense of humor. I remember looking for snakes in the pond next to the school and hanging out at your house a few times as you lived just down the walking path from the school. I remember Sam sharing during a Show-n-Tell time a story of his father...

I'd like to extend my condolences to the Cox Family and friends! I meet Sam in the first grade Martin L. King Elementary. I have many fond memories of going out and playing around the pond at school and learning to ice skate there with Jeff M. and Phil E. While we were in H.S. Sam and I both would be after school him practicing gymnastics and me, wrestling. I lost touch after Sam went off to Hope College, but I often thought about what he might of become. Sam was a truly a kind and fun...

Thinking of "old times" and friends made me search for Sam online. Words cannot express my sadness for our loss when I saw his obituary. Sam was such a genuine good person, joyful to be around and so caring. I am so sorry he left us so early. My deepest condolences to you, Jeff and Lisa.

Dear Mary Sue, Lisa, and the entire Cox family: I was so deeply sorry to read about the passing of Sam. He was such a bright light that went out far too soon. The memorial tribute to him captured his essence beautifully. What an incredibly kind and gentle soul, warm, loving, and completely devoted to his family. I had met him a few times over the years. I feel especially fortunate that I had some meaningful conversations with him in the summer of 2023. I am sending prayers for healing, and...

Lisa, Jeff, Mary Sue, I'm sorry for Sam's passing and the loss of such a kindhearted person. I haven't seen Sam in many years but have good memories from King Elementary and Portage Lake in the summers. During recess in the winter at King, Sam and I would venture behind the school to a small partially frozen wetland area a foot or so deep where we would walk or run across to see who could make it without falling in. Sam called this "Water Walkin." I can only think water walkin is within...

I have nothing but fond memories of the times Sam and had back in the day whether it was during gymnastics practice or just hanging out listening to music. The world is a better place because he was in it. Now Im sure heaven is too. RIP Sam

One of the kindest gentlemen with a care and compassion for the joy of many around him. An honor to know him.

It seems like just yesterday when Sam and I were only like 12 years old skiing on the slopes up at Nubs Nob in Harbor Springs. So many great memories of skiing all day and always having fun up north. R.I.P. my friend. See you on the slopes again some day.
