I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Morty at the bagel shop in Millburn, NJ for several years. Morty was akin to a work grandfather. I realized early on that he was the quintessential deli man and a superlative human being. He looked out for us naive youngsters serving the public, offered us work and life tips, told some great jokes, and always delivered service with a smile. For those of you who are too young to know or others who might not remember, Morton “Bunny Zimmer was the Bunny of the Bunny Hop, a restaurant on Chancellor Avenue in the Weequahic section of Newark NJ.
