Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025, in Shelton Baptist Church of Moselle for Mr. Harlin Dean Smith, Sr. age 94, of Moselle. Mr. Smith went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 4, 2025, at his residence. Bro. Charles Brady will officiate with burial to follow in the Shelton Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Aaron Smith, Joel Smith, Josh Smith, Joseph Watkins, Zachary Mills, and Paul Robertson with Seth Mills and Trisdon Broom as the Honorary pallbearers.


Harlin Dean was the oldest living member of Shelton Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher and deacon. He also served on the Building Committee at Shelton Baptist Church for many years. He was a farmer for over 50 years before retiring. Mr. Smith was a 32-degree Scottish Rite in Meridian and a Master Mason with the JM Bradley #447 Blue Lodge where he held all the offices including Past Master of the Lodge.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Christine Smith; son, Dean Smith, Jr.; daughter, Tina Smith Hicks; grandson, Brian Hicks and brother, J.R. Smith.


He is survived by his son, Norman (Nina) Smith of Richton and Robert “Robbie” (Kaye) Smith of Moselle; daughter, Mary Sue Watkins of Brandon; daughter-in-law, Connie Smith of Searcy, AR; 9 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold Smith of Seminary and R.V. (Linda) Smith of Moselle; sisters, Barbara Moore of Moselle, June Montgomery of Hattiesburg and Vonniece Butler of Moselle and a host of other relatives and friends.


Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2025, at Jones and Son Funeral Home in Moselle.
