Moments in Time…

Anthony Jerome Clemons entered the world on July 15, 1956, as the eldest of two children to Wynetta Clemons and the late John H. Clemons.  Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Anthony attended elementary, middle, and high school in the heart of the city. A proud Red Raider through and true, Anthony graduated from Miami Edison Senior High School in 1974.

Charismatic, intelligent, and smooth, Anthony earned the moniker “Skinny Cool” during his youth and it would follow him throughout his life. With a charming style and infectious smile, Anthony was known for his sense of humor and fondness for having a good time with family and friends.

Anthony was a lover of knowledge and was a person who could tell you a little bit about any subject. He possessed some quirky skills that many may not have known, like being especially good at gardening and being certified in reading and teaching Braille. He enjoyed literature, word puzzles, television shows covering history and nature, and collecting antiquated items such as coins, $2 bills, stamps, and vintage vinyl records.

A Life Well Lived…

Anthony served admirably in the United States Airforce from 1974 to 1980 and the United States Air Force Reserve until 1987. He was Honorably Discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his time in the service, he was able to travel throughout the country and abroad, spending several years in Europe.

Anthony attended the University of Maryland, RAF Alconbury England Campus form 1977-1979 and earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Pre-Business Administration.  He later attended Florida International University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice in 1987.

He worked as a Correctional Officer at the United States Federal Penitentiary in Atlanta, Ga and had a tenured career with the Florida Department of Corrections in Miami, Fl. Anthony also spent time as a Substitute Teacher with Miami-Dade County public schools. In his final working years leading up to retirement he worked as a Mental Health Counselor with several companies serving both Miami-Dade and Broward County.

A Life Well Loved…

On Wednesday July 14, 2021, an airman gained his permanent wings. Anthony is survived by his mother, Wynetta Clemons; daughter Adrienne Clemons; Sister, Cassandra Clemons; nephew George Davis III and great-niece Dasani Davis; and former wife, Deborah Williams-Clemons; Brother, Darrel; and Uncle, Leroy Clemons. In addition to immediate family, he is survived by a host cousins and friends.

With love in our hearts this day and forever we endearingly say:
