We are here to celebrate the life of our dear friend, lovingly known as Daddy Soul – Mr. Jerry Pringle, Jr..  Born July 24, 1946, in Ridgeville, South Carolina to the late Jerry and Annie Mae Pringle, he was the fourth child of eight and twin to his fraternal sister, Shellie (Pringle) Overton.

Jerry attended public schools in Cross, South Carolina. He was employed at General Electric for over 15 years, working as a Welding Instructor, tasked with training new employees.  With a leap of faith into entrepreneurship, Jerry started and operated his own demolition and excavation business, Pringle’s Landscaping. He operated in South Carolina’s low country for a number of years before retiring.

Affectionately called “Daddy Soul”, Jerry lived up to that moniker.  Always a jovial and caring person, Jerry was never one to turn away from the opportunity to help someone in need.  He acted on instinct and with a ready smile as wide as the sea, his hand was always outstretched and doors always open to provide shelter and safety to those who needed it.  Standing in as a father to many, a mentor to those in need of guidance and lending a listening ear, Daddy Soul lived as a man of honor committed to communal service.  With a hearty laughter, Jerry’s favorite sayings so often spoken were – “Life is Life.” and “You don’t know when you finish when you’re doing nothing.” – words so true it is hard not to remember.  It goes without saying that Jerry’s life has been full and everlasting, touching the lives of everyone around him, be it family or friends.

He is preceded in death by his two sons, Aljerold Pringle and Reginald Pringle, his brother John Lee (Lillian) Pringle, but he leaves behind a legacy.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted and faithful daughter Jearlina (Chris) Ravenell of Ridgeville, S.C.; sons, Rodney (Marcia) Shuler of S.C. and Kimothy Mack of Ridgeville, S.C. and another daughter, Natarsha (Jimmy) Pringle of New York. His siblings – brothers, Sammie (Alene) Pringle, Amos (Glendell) Pringle; sisters, Lula Middleton, Shellie (Randolph) Overton, Willie Mae (Louis) Chatman, and Bertha (James) Washington – all of Ridgeville, South Carolina.  His grand children: Kushia Gavin, Shulina Washington, China Ravenell, Algeria Pringle, Kimberly Henderson, Shemeka Levine, Lashanda Goodwin, Xavier Brown, Christopher Ravenell and Craig Ravenell. His great-grandchildren: Kamaurion Benjamin and Kingston Ancrum, Camilla and Camella Gadson, Kairo Pringle, Kaylen Smith, Nyomi McCullough Jr. and Jocoby McCullough Jr. and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

As well as special friend, also known as Momma Soul, Lillie Mae Mack.

The family will be receiving friends beginning on Monday 3:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. Online condolences may be sent to www.shulermarshallfuneralhome.com.

He came sat down asked my mom what you’re cooking or what you got to eat. He knew the only thing he had to do is say the word and mom will catered to his need. I think she had him spoiled.
