Raymond Chopane
was born on March 13, 1940, in Voth, Texas. He was one of ten children born to Josephine and Sidney Chopane Sr. He was a hardworking man who loved to dance, ride horses, and enjoy life. Raymond was known for his good looks, strong work ethic, and cowboy charm.


He married the love of his life, Beatrice Chopane, on June 15, 1973. He was a professional steelworker for over 30 years at Beaumont Iron and Metal Corporation. Raymond enjoyed attending rodeos, visiting the casino, playing cards, and spending quality time with his family.


Raymond loved sharing stories about the good old days for hours. His long chats kept his family entertained and laughing. Raymond took his final breath on Friday, March 6, 2026, in Beaumont at Harbor Hospice.


Raymond is preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Chopane; his parents, Josephine and Sidney Sr.; his sister, Ella Chopane; and his brothers, Robert and Sidney Chopane Jr.


He is survived by his sons, Terry Woods, Raymond Charles Chopane Jr. (Lelanda), Raymond Chopane Jr., Markus Chopane, and John Richard; his daughters, Robin Mayfield (Anthony), Jasmine Spinger, Debra Perkins, and Margaret Guidry Davis; his brother, Wilmer Chopane Sr.; his sisters, Geneva Huff, Shirley Ann Charles, Emma Lee Chopane, Ada Mae Watkins, and Brenda Kay Simon; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, loving family, and friends.


Active Pallbearers will include his sons, grandsons, nephews, and other family members:
Harvey Lee Isadore, Terry Woods, John Curtis, Clifton "CJ" Bridges, Jonathan Perkins, Thaddeus Pappion, Raymond Chopane Jr., and Markus Chopane.


Honorary Pallbearers are his sons, grandsons, and other family members:
Raymond Charles Chopane Jr., Anthony Mayfield, Derrick Richard, and Deontae Richard.


 


Raymond's legacy will live on in those who love him most. May he rest peacefully for eternity.
