A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Richton United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 25, 2022, for Mrs. Sylvia Edwards Anderson. Rev. Amy Roller and Rev. Brandon Halford will officiate the service.
The price for love is grief, and we are heartbroken at the sudden passing of our Dear Sylvia Edwards Anderson. On February 20th, 2022, Sylvia passed from her colorful world to the next where she joined the love of her life, John W. Anderson, and her son, Jon Edwards Anderson in heaven. She held her family and extended family close at heart and was a fierce friend who was devoted to organizing reunions and gatherings for all to stay connected. She was a very attentive mother, who raised her children to see the good in the world and taught them to be kind to others.
Sylvia was born on September 9, 1946 to Allan and Velma Edwards of Richton, MS. Her upbringing was filled with joyful memories of being surrounded by family and her precious cousins.
Sylvia led a life of great accomplishment in her career, through music, and study. She had an avid love of reading. She had a passion for education and inspired her students to use their gifts and talents to be lifelong learners. Known to her beloved students as Mrs. A, Sylvia, was an amazing teacher always sharing her love of art, music, and education with her pupils. She was a shining light in her teaching community for 36 years and treasured her colleagues. Sylvia was an active parishioner and played the organ at the Richton United Methodist Church for over 30 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Daisy Anderson Tuminello, her son-in-law, Steven Tuminello and granddaughter, Sophia Tuminello of Vicksburg, MS; step-grandchildren, Julia Tuminello and Sebastian Tuminello; her sister, Gretchen Heathcock (Hines) of Jackson, AL; as well as numerous cousins, nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be from Friday, February 25, 2022 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Richton United Methodist Church in Richton.

I will remember how she loved to change her hair color. It was great seeing someone with a smile and love for each one.

Mrs. A, thank you for living your true self “out loud”. I believe meeting you was my first encounter with a living definition of “authenticity”. I’m preserving all of the “bright” and “unique” memories I have of you. I know they will continue to warm my heart when I think of you. Daisy, may God continue to strengthen you and give you peace in days to come. He cares for you.

Mrs. A, thank you for teaching me that the world is not dark and grey, but colorful and unique! You helped us to open our minds to think outside the box. Because of your teachings, we are better individuals, as we learned to live life to the fullest. You pushed us to reach our highest potential as young, gifted students. If only more people could see the world through your eyes. I will never forget you! Until we meet again sleep in Heavenly peace.

I met Sylvia in art class my senior year 1975 the only boy in a class full of girls, she spoiled me. I will never forget painting her Volkswagen van to look like a strawberry shortcake, yes you knew her too. We stayed in touch for the past 44 years and she has helped me through some rough times in my life I love you Sylvia and will miss you.
