Deloris "Sister" Washington entered into this life on September 22, 1946 born to the late Isaac "Bubba" Wright and Dorothy Nelson Wright.

"Sister" was raised in a close knit family setting in Eutawville, SC along with her sisters, Carrie (Minna/Georgia), Alfredia, Maggie and preceded in death Beatrice and Betty.

She attended the local primary and secondary schools and graduated Roberts High School in 1964.

During this time, she dated and eventually married her sweetheart,  Rutledge Washington in 1966. Together, while residing in Yonkers, they welcomed two children, Aurora Aleta and Rutledge Jr., remaining married until Rutledge passed away in 1996.

Deloris was known for her stern demeanor and no nonsense persona. She was fiercely loyal, dependable and displayed an independent spirit.

Deloris was passionate about nursing and dedicated herself to the service of others as an employee of Local 1199. Upon returning to SC, she shifted to nursing home facilities in Moncks Corner and St. Matthews until retirement in 2011.

Deloris demonstrated her faith as a member of Springfield Missionary Baptist Church by regularly attending services in Harlem, NY and later at the home church in Eutawville; whereby she served as member of the usher board.

During her retirement, Deloris actively engaged with several community and auxiliary groups such as Women of Grace, AARP and the Class of '64 fulfilling leadership positions as Sergeant at Arms, and Planning and Health committee leads. Deloris enjoyed vacationing at Myrtle Beach and took several cruises.

She tirelessly provided convalescence care for her ailing mother until her untimely transition on May 20, 2020.

Deloris leaves to mourn her loving mother, Mrs. Dorothy Wright, her children, Roe and Jr., grandchildren: Jahquan, Econyers (Manny), Rutledge III, Jonathan, Nyrell, Hassan, Shaniya, Jermayne, Malika and Errol; daughter in law, Nicole, and son in law, Eric Pope; three sisters: Carrie Davis of Eutawville, SC, Freda Thompson of Mt. Vernon, NY  and Maggie Wright, of Atlanta; mother in law, Mrs Isabel (Cobelle) Washington, brother in law, Floyd, sisters in law: Mary Doll, Rachel, Rebecca, and Rhoda all of Eutawville. A special friend, Mr. Lawrence Reed and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
