A Time To Be Born…
Rebecca Myers Sweat was chosen by God Almighty to be born to the late Joe & Jessie Montgomery Myers of Holly Hill, SC. She was born on July 3, 1919, in the County of Orangeburg, Holly Hill, SC.
At an early age, she attended many churches as she traveled with her parents. After being married to Mannie Sweat Sr., she joined Bethel AME Church in Holly Hill, SC where she faithfully served in many capacities under the leadership of many pastors. She was a member of the Usher Board, Stewardess Board, Missionary Society, and wherever else her services were needed until her health declined. However, she continued to serve through continuous prayer for her church and fellow men.
After being joined in Holy Matrimony to Mannie Sweat Sr., they were blessed with eleven children. Mrs. Rebecca Sweat was a Virtuous, God Fearing, Loving, Kind, and Compassionate Woman to all she met. She was a cook among cooks, and loved serving and feeding others with natural foods as well as Spiritual Foods. Rebecca’s heart was full of joy and wanted others to be as joyful.
She will be truly missed many friends, loved ones, and family members, and especially her grand & great-grandchildren. She has left so many memories upon the hearts of so many people.
A Time of Remembrance…
Rebecca touched the lives of so many people with her generosity and heartfelt smile. She leaves to cherish these memories her beloved children: five daughters; Linda (Bobby) Lee, Rev. Carol S. Berry, Daisy (Rudolph) Stephens , of South Carolina, Sandra (Daryl) Smalls, and Jacqueline Sweat, of New York; four devoted sons of the home: Blease Sweat, Glenny (Valerie) Sweat, Ikimeric (Tyesha) Sweat, and Ja’Vahn Whittlesey; three loving and kind daughters-in-law: Anne Sweat, Ivedella Sweat, and Inether Sweat, all of New York; a devoted son-in-law, Rev. Alexander Long; two sisters: Lucille High and Virginia Dennis, both of South Carolina. She was graced to have a very generous son that took take of her until she breathed her last breath; Glenny J. Sweat. Rebecca loved everyone, especially her grands and great- grands. She was also graced with a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
I really and truly miss you grandmother!
