Ms. Ruby Jean Smith of 3716 Harley Bridge Road, Macon, Georgia died Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at Navicent Health in Macon, Georgia.
Matthew 12: 28-29: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls”.
Ms. Ruby Jean Smith passed away Tuesday, April 28th, 2020 at Navicent Health Hospital in Macon, Georgia. Sadly, the last time family members were able to visit Ruby was on her seventieth birthday, at the Pruitt Nursing Home - Anthony Road, Macon.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents mother Inez Smith Mitchell and father Ruben Eugene Smith. Also preceded in death by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Ruby attended church during her childhood at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Hatley Community, as well as Rose Hill Apostolic Church Cordele, Georgia. She sang in the church with her siblings as a child and her favorite gospel song was “Pray On My Child”. She attended A.S. Clark High School (home of the Green & Gold Rams) Cordele Ga where she graduated in 1968. Her interests were writing, reading, listening to music, shopping, watching television, coloring pictures and solving puzzles. She was independent, beautiful, loved to have fun and full of undeniably infectious laughter. Ruby accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior in 2010 at Praise Tabernacle Ministries, Inc. Macon Ga. God knew Ruby. He provided for her through years of snares and struggles. She knew she was loved by Him and by her family. That love also extended to aunts, uncles, and cousins from all sides of our family. Some were called on more than others but you never failed to let her know that she was yours and you were hers. Thank you. During the summer through the Thanksgiving season of 2019 Ruby was so sick, so down and out that she could not speak. But she could say Jesus! a sign that the Spirit of the Lord is there even when we're not.
Our Sister Ruby will always be in our hearts and missed by all. She leaves behind siblings: Sister (s) Aralene Staley, Edna (Hershell) Stovall, Wanda (Terry) Green, and Paula (Ray) Lyons. Brother (s) Joseph Smith, Ruben (Olivia) Smith Jr., and Randy ( Anissa ) Smith; aunts and uncles: Leartis Bright, Mary Pecola Jackson, Betty (Henry) Rainge, Curtis (Marjorie) Everett, A. Maria Nimetullah and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Better Place
She’s in a better place right now
Than she’s ever been before;
All pain is gone; she’s now at rest;
Nothing troubles her anymore.
-- Joanna Fuchs
Rest in peace Ruby.....you're now free
There will not be a memorial gathering due to the pandemic restrictions.
