The home going celebration for retired Air Force MSgt. James C. Brown, 75, will be Friday, March 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with Reverend Abraham Walton officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Seaman First Class Billy Turner Ardmore Veteran Cemetery.
The son of the late James Cecil and Dorothy Mae Moore, James was born March 5, 1951, in Ardmore, Oklahoma and passed from this life to life eternal on March 18, 2026. Known to many as Jay, JC or JB, his name spoke for itself. James graduated from Ardmore Douglass High School and then attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1971 and served during Vietnam and Operation Desert Shield/Storm. He was honorably discharged in 1995 after 24 years of service. During his service he received numerous commendations including the AF Commendation Medal; AF Achievement Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with 3 bronze service stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; AF Overseas Ribbon Short and Long; Longevity Service Award Ribbon with 1 silver OLC; AF Good Conduct Medal. He was friends with Colin Powell.
James was preceded in death by both his loving parents. He is survived by his wife Diana, a son De’Shawn (Jennifer) Walden; a daughter Angelia (Dexter) Simmons; brother-in-law, Pastor William (Tracey) McClendon; five brothers, John (Joann) Moore, Gary (Carmen) Moore, Raymond (Linda) Moore, Walter (Crystal) Moore, and Joe Brown; five sisters, Bernice White, Paulette Brown, Shirley Bloom, Fredia Cohee, and Wanda Green; a very special sister Terry Carpenter, along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
