Muriel June (Winter) Albers was born the daughter of Fred and Christine (Streich) Winter on June 11, 1927 in Glencoe. She was baptized and confirmed at the First Ev. Lutheran Church in Glencoe. There was a schoolhouse located on the Winter family farm and the school’s teacher lived with Muriel’s family. This teacher influenced Muriel in attending school and Muriel was a member of the Glencoe High School graduating class of 1944. On June 14, 1947 Muriel was united in marriage with Anthony R. Albers at the Church Of Sts. Peter and Paul in Glencoe. She was an active member of the church’s prayer chain and also its Council Of Catholic Women.

Memories by the family include their parents spending almost 59 years of marriage together. Every June for their anniversary they would go to the Glenwood area where they they had spent their honeymoon. They would also go “up north” to the Brainerd/Nisswa area a few days each summer. Anthony said that Muriel wanted to go for a drive everyday and it didn’t matter where, and even if it was cold out Muriel would want to drive to Norwood for an ice cream cone. Muriel had many flower gardens that she enjoyed and kept perfectly clean. She enjoyed canning pickles and freezing sweet corn. Muriel loved living on the farm and lived in the country her entire life. She was determined not to move to town regardless how many times the children had asked her to. Muriel enjoyed life fully and kept in touch with the times and with her children and grandchildren. She had kept a diary her whole life and that will take the children the rest of their lives to read it completely. Muriel delighted in going to her grandchildrens recitals, performances and concerts at their schools. She even was a guest reader in their classrooms. She always said she “wouldn’t miss it for the world”. Muriel and Anthony spent many winters fishing in their fish house on many of the area lakes. Muriel enjoyed shopping for antiques and attending auctions. They will also remember her for being a wonderful cook and that she took pride in setting a fine meal.

On Wednesday February 1, 2006 Muriel Albers entered her eternal rest at the Glencoe Regional Health Services at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 20 days. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Antonia Larson, brother Melvin Winter and sister LaVerna Boerner.
