Muriel was truly inspirational. When I met her, in 1963, she was married to Lester Anderson, my math teacher at Bella Vista High School, and I'd often visit them after school and before dinner, when we'd engage in wide-ranging discussions of literature, art, history, politics and philosophy. Together, she and her husband became a powerful force for implanting and nourishing critical thinking about everything important in life. Years after I graduated from BVHS, she and Lester became...

Mrs. Anderson was an amazing lady. A true treasure is gone. Her candid comments and witty dialogue touched many. She has truly made a difference for generations to come. Peace.

Mrs Anderson was a terrific teacher. I also had her for 11th grade English (in 1966-67) and was shocked to get a C+ on my first paper when I normally coasted and got A's. She made all of us sit up and look at what we were doing, and when we did finally get an A, we were so proud because we had gotten an A from MRS. ANDERSON! She has an overhead projector on which she put your paper and then discussed it with the entire class. That was never a proud moment, but we did learn and am grateful...

Mrs. Anderson was one in a million. She was my HS English teacher at San Juan (11th grade.) She expected the best of you, and when you didn't give it, she could deliver a blunt reasoning behind your poor grade.

I adored her. I remember her Birkenstock sandals, with toe socks in the winter, just like yesterday. She was truly a gem. She made you look inside yourself, dig deeper. It wasn't until years later when I started working in education how FRUSTRATED she must have been in me,...
