McNally & Watson Funeral & Cremation Service - Clinton Obituary

CLINTON

Muriel M. (Chadwick) Richardson passed away peacefully at Oakdale Nursing Home in West Boylston on August 6, 2019, at the age of 93. She is predeceased by her husband, Paul Richardson, who died in May 1987, a grandson, Wesley Burton, who died in August 2014, and a son-in-law, Paul Trippi, who died in October 2014. She is survived by three daughters: Sharon Trippi of West Boylston, Kathleen Gardner of Palmer, and Christine Brockelman of Leominster; a son, Tracy Richardson of Lisbon, Portugal, and his spouse, Adelaide; a son-in-law, Robert Brockelman, of Clinton. She is also survived by her two remaining siblings, Peter Chadwick of Arlington, WA, and Sylvia Hamm of Chester, ME; along with many nieces and nephews.

She also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Eric Mellum, Deanna Heath, Muriel Pearson, Tanya Whitney, Heidi Richardson, Robert Brockelman III, and Kyle Richardson. She will also be sadly missed by her fourteen great-grandchildren.

Muriel was born in Sutton, New Hampshire on May 2, 1926, one of twelve children born to Earle P. and Gladys C. (Cheney) Chadwick. At the age of seventeen, she married Navy Veteran Paul Richardson. The family moved to Clinton from New Hampshire in 1957, after Paul had secured employment in the area as a heavy equipment operator. Muriel retired from the Van Brode Company in Clinton, where she worked in Quality Control for many years.

Muriel was devoted to her growing family, and never missed an opportunity to shower her loved ones with praise and admiration. She was an avid reader and would consume thousands of books in her lifetime. Her skill at crossword puzzles was enviable. She was a proud lady with a keen sense of style, and put her best foot forward at all times. Her kindness, compassion, and generosity were well known. She was a great listener, and provided support and encouragement to anyone in need. Above all, she was the family matriarch, who kept us all together, and will be forever remembered for her loving heart.

Muriel’s relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, August 8, 2019, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton. Funeral services and burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Guild, NH, will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Oakdale Activities Fund, c/o Oakdale Nursing Center, 76 N. Main St., West Boylston, MA 01583.
