Murphy Martin

I thought of Murphy as a friend who gave me a ride in 1955 from Lufkin to Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth for my visit to the campus. I exchanged E-mails with him this past year. He will be missed.

Joyce, Mike & Family,
I, like so many others, are saddened by Murphy's passing. I have such fond childhood memories of family gatherings with Murphy, Marguerite, Holly and Tee together with my beloved parents (Houghton & Grace Martin Hilburn) aunts and uncles and grandparents (Hoyt & Mother Martin). I'm certain Murphy has received a warm Martin welcome in Heaven from these and so many other wonderful Martin relatives who left us before. May God bless you during this difficult...

Dear Joyce, Mike and "Murph's extended family":
How sad I was to hear that he had passed away. But, knowing you, Joyce, and Murphy through the "old days" at Channel 8 was my great joy. I was lucky to have worked with professional like him and our friends, Bob Gooding, Don Harris, and so many others who touched the world with their nightly news presentations on WFAA-TV in the 1970's.

What a distinct pleasure and priviledge to have him as a mentor and friend through the years. And,...
