Funeral services for Mrs. Mutelle Branton Cobb Thompson, age 90, will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, August 1, 2013, in the Springhill United Methodist Church, Springhill, LA, with Rev. Bill McLain officiating. Interment will follow in Springhill Cemetery, Springhill, LA under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2013, 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.
Mrs. Thompson was born on February 6, 1923 to Marion Matthew and Addie Mae Martin Branton in Shreveport, LA and passed away on July 30, 2013 in Springhill, LA. She was a member of Springhill United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and loved to Square Dance. Mrs. Thompson loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and gardening.
She is survived by four grandchildren, Wendy McCalister and husband, Dean of Jefferson, TX, Leslea Mudd and husband, Bobby of Lake Charles, LA, Tracie Woodson of Shreveport, LA, John Ward Woodson and wife, Kelli of Keithville, LA; five great-grandchildren, Austin McCalister, Devan McCalister, Bailey Mudd, Marcie Mudd, Bransyn Mudd; son-in-law, John Woodson of Shreveport, LA; step-grandchild, Catherine Dean; three step-sons, Ray Thompson and wife, Vickie, Rickie Thompson and wife, Yvonne, Curtis Thompson; two sisters-in-law, Georgia Lusby Branton of Shongaloo, LA, Elsie Branton of New Caney, TX; two nephews, Champ Branton of Ruston, LA, Pepper Branton and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert E. Cobb and Samuel E. Thompson; daughter, Kathy Cobb Woodson; brothers, Harold Matthew Branton, Parey Pershing Branton; and sister, Dorothy Branton Patton.
Pallbearers will be Freddy Covington, Robert Huddleston, Buddy Phillips, Doyle Keith, Billy Nickerson and Ray Huddleston.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dr. Torrence, the Staff of Springhill Medical Center, Penny Bryan and Professional Home Health Services.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Springhill United Methodist Church.
