Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home, Elwood Obituary

Myron Gene Daugherty, age 73 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Elwood Health & Living rehab center surrounded by his daughters after a brief illness.  He was born October 20, 1951 in Elwood, the son of Paul and Vera Jean (Yocom) Daugherty.  He was baptized in the Christian faith.  Myron was a 1969 graduate of Frankton High School.  As a young person, he cherished time growing up at Daugherty’s Apple Orchard and spending time on the family farm.  Myron was actively involved as the manager of his family’s business in Anderson – Daugherty Plumb Shop & Water Conditioning for nearly 20 years and retired in 2002.  He also formerly worked at Delco Remy in Anderson.

Myron nearly always had a smile on his face, but he enjoyed a private, simple life.  He was known for being unique, artistic, and full of all sorts of knowledge gained from his love of reading.  As a young adult, he was easily recognized in his bright green Chevy Nova he drove for many years in Elwood.  Myron lovingly expressed his artistic skills with personalized cards and gifts with hand-drawn artwork given to family members on birthdays and special occasions throughout his life.  He loved all his family in his own special way.  Myron’s daughters fondly remember long summer rides in the car with classic rock music blaring from the speakers as they cruised around with their dad.  He especially enjoyed rock concerts, pizza, and beer.  Myron’s family will never forget his great sense of humor and his kind nature.

Myron’s family includes 2 daughters, Aleshcha (Chuck) DeWitt of Plymouth and Stacey (Greg) Hofer of Elwood; brother, Mark (Chisato) Daugherty of Gnaw Bone; 6 grandchildren, Philip Morris, Rebeca (Tim) Flannery, Noah Hofer, Meghan (Ty) Sheahan, Abigale (Stephen) Foy, and Nicholas Hofer; 2 great-grandchildren, Laila Flannery and Abraham Foy and “baby Mellow” expected in 2026; 2 nieces; and 2 nephews.  Myron was preceded in death by his parents; former spouse, Colleen (Shepard) Trentman; paternal grandparents, William and Elsie Daugherty; and maternal grandparents, Mason and Pearl Yocom.

A life celebration memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.  Private burial will follow the service in Forrestville Cemetery in rural Summitville.  Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 pm prior to the service at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Elwood Health & Living Activity Fund.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
