Not sure what to say?

Myrtle McLain - A force and pioneer for women in emergency medicine. I always enjoyed our occasional encounters and chatting with you - you were an independently strong woman and I so admired your tenacity Myrtle. May you now rest in peace - a job well done here on this Earth.

Myrtle was a treasured colleague and friend. Suzanne and I enjoyed many times of Christian fellowship and story-telling with her. She used to work in our office in Grant when we were on vacation. An occasional patient of ours reminded her that she had saved their life!

Myrtle McLain helped educate Henry Hammersmith, MD during his early education at St Mary's. His memories of her were always amazing. And then she became our neighbor with a strip of woods between our house in Cedar Springs. My sympathy to her family.

I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. I was impaired by her- an adult woman pursuing an MD and getting it! I wish I had had her tenacity and intellect. She was a treasure. I knew of her through her daughter Alice.

I took (and passed!) the very first Board Exam with Myrtle and many other "originals" in Chicago. She was instrumental in the process of gaining specialty status for Emergency Medicine. She also was responsible for educating a long series of excellent ER physicians as Residency Director. I was privileged to know her and to work during most of my career with many of her "flock" (fond memories of Myrtle being trailed by the "ducklings" at every ACEP National!). She will be missed by all of...

Dr. McLain taught part of my first EMT classes, at which time I learned so much and could tell she loved what she did! What an incredible journey. God Speed, Doc.
