Not sure what to say?

Joyce,

N.B. was a major influence on my life, and on those of my friends. He was exacting in performance demands if he felt we were capable, and forgiving when he knew his objectives were beyond our reach. He made me cry once in voice and diction, but only because his critism was true. Most students, I believe, would agree with me that he cared enough for us to give us the gift of honest feedback with specific suggestions for improvement. He was a great teacher and his students...

I have so many happy memories from Dr. East's acting classes and MU Theatre productions in Old Main. From Dr. East, I learned how to take criticism without bursting into tears. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Joyce.

Although I did not know Dr. East well, I do thow that he left a wonderful legacy of terrific, talented alumni at Marshall University. He has always been remembered fondly, with good humor and greater respect; now he will be deeply missed.
My thoughts are with you through this difficult time.

Rest in Peace Dr. East. Thank you for teaching me, believing in me, and giving me the artistic courage for my work in the theatre today. I remember you fondly. You were my teacher, my director, my mentor, and my friend. Much love to you, Joyce, in this time of grief.

Joyce, you & the family on in my thoughts today. I've been teaching theatre & directing between 10-20 plays each year for the past 25 years, & I think of N.B. every day. I hope he realized what an inspiration he was to so many of us who were lucky enough to have had him as a teacher, mentor, director, & friend. Take care.

Rest in peace, Dr. East. Thank you for teaching me to believe in myself. I carry you with me whenever I direct or teach.

You brought joy and art into so many of our lives, Dr. East. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and love with us. Rest in peace.

May God bless you and your family. Rest in Peace, Dr. East, and thank you for bringing theatre history to life for me.
