Nadine A. Jones, of Woburn, was called home on June 10, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Nadine was the daughter of the late Willie and Mildred Simmons. She was born in Boston, but also spent time living in Florida and North Carolina as a young girl. Eventually Nadine settled back in Boston with her mother-- where she fell in love with her soul mate: John Jones also known as “Big John / Poppy”.
Nadine and John happily married on March 31, 1967. After giving birth to her son John Jr. and daughter Lillian, they owned a restaurant, “Lil & John’s Glenway Fish and Chips”. Together they made the best fried chicken around. Nadine loved meeting new friends and encountering old ones at her restaurant. Everyone was always greeted with a smile and she looked forward to hearing all their stories. What Nadine loved most was being a mother. After her children began having their own children, she found out being a grandmother was much more rewarding. Nadine was the glue that held her family together, but in her family’s eyes she was the glue that held the world together. She loved every single member of her family unconditionally, no matter their sins.
Nadine took every moment to being outdoors and enjoyed the sunlight on her skin as well as quick rides to the store in her motorized chair.
As time went on and the family grew, she became ‘Nana’ to everyone around her. Nana also enjoyed crocheting and every newborn baby received a gift made with love, whether she knew you or not.
Nadine will forever be missed by her family, friends, and anyone that ever had a moment to experience her grace.
Nadine is survived by her children, John R. Jones Jr. and his wife, Drew, Lillian (Jones) Cadet and Lyonel Williams, all of Boston. Her grandchildren, Nadine (Lacey) and Jerome Jones, Jada and Aisha Stewart. Great grandchildren, Micah, Julian, and Tristian Jones. Brothers, Clifford and Nathan Tyler and sisters, Sandra Daniels, Beverly Crosby, Bernell Stuart and Ella Mae Graham and many family and friends. Nadine was predeceased by her husband, John R. Jones Sr. and son, Maurice Williams.
