Nancy Ahern-Cano Obituary

Nancy Ahern-Cano
March 15, 1950 - July 29, 2015
Resident of Santa Clara
Nancy is described by many as a "firecracker!". She absolutely was and we loved that about her. She fiercely loved her friends and family, even her job from which she recently retired. The countless babies she loved and cared for over the 30+ years she worked in the NICU at Kaiser were blessed to have her on their side. She loved being outdoors, at the beach, at an Oakland A's or Raider game, or just taking a hike. Nancy also had a passion for music, rock music. All 4ft 10 inches of her danced the night away at many concerts.
Nancy will be dearly missed by her children, Jim, Lisa, Scott & Gina; her grand-children, James, Daniel, Frankie, Michael & Megan; her great-grand daughter Olivia; her siblings Robert, Sharon, & Austin; daughter-in-law Paige; son-in-law William; and adoring kitty, Teddy. Being Italian, she had a huge extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews who she loved immensely. We will miss her amazing spaghetti, her colorful language, and her friendship. We were all very lucky to have her in our lives.
Friends and Family- please join us to share stories and remember the love she gave us all. We will have a visitation Sunday Aug. 9th 5-9 pm at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary with services Monday Aug. 10th at 10 am at St. Justin's Parish in Santa Clara (private burial for family) and a reception following at 11 am Mariani's restaurant - 2500 El Camino Real in Santa Clara.
Memorial donations may be given to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, which was near and dear to her heart. A very special thank you to the amazing staff at Stanford hospital who went above and beyond for us all.

My tear was pulled without an effort... my heart has a hurt... I loved that woman for the light and life we shared together.
A real heartfelt condolence to family.
I do know how much you all will be missing her... and how much she loved all of you.
"Firecracker" was delightfully stated... and she really will remain as such in my memories.

Our sympathy to Nancy's family. My late mom, Jean Hansen, who was a teacher at Briarwood school in Santa Clara, thought so highly of Nancy as she was such a dedicated mother and a nurse. My mom mentioned Nancy frequently. Our thoughts are with you, Sally Hansen and family
