Nancy K. Castro

North Grosse Pointe Shores Nancy K (Lundy) Castro, age 65, of Hancock, passed away at Marquette General Hospital on Saturday, May 25, 2013. She was born in Hancock, Michigan on March 3, 1948; daughter of Ralph and Lillian Manninen. She graduated from Hancock Central High in 1966 and from Suomi College in 1968. She married Lundy J. Castro in 1968 and lived in Hancock and later moved to the Detroit area for 7 years before returning to Hancock where they lived for 30 years before making their home on North Grosse Pt. Shores. She loved being a homemaker and welcoming family and friends in her home. She enjoyed blueberry picking, cake decorating, volunteering for Little Brothers and Helping Hands, and being involved at church. Nancy is survived by her husband, Lundy J. Castro; daughters Jennifer L. (Steve) Carlson of Pittsburgh, PA., and Amber L. (Dennis) Karttunen of Marquette, MI., and by grandchildren Benjamin, Sadie, and Samuel Carlson; sisters, Barb (Ron) Kommes and Laura (Dave) Clark, and brother Ralph (Lisa) Manninen; aunt, Senja Pietila of Hancock, MI, many special cousins, and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister Ellen Goodrich. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 28th at the Memorial Chapel from 4 to 7pm. The funeral service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Houghton on Wednesday, May 29th at 11:00am with visitation from 10 am until time of services at the church.
