Nancy Davis

Boscawen, NH - Nancy Irene (Brown) Davis, age 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA, following a brief illness and a year of declining health. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Nancy was born on July 9, 1944, at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, to Franklin C. Brown and June E. (Huntoon) Brown. The youngest child, she joined her older brother, Launie Brown, completing the family. Her early childhood was spent in Danbury, NH, where she cherished memories of time spent at her grandparents' nearby dairy farm.

At the age of eight, Nancy traveled with her family to the Pacific Island of Guam, where she lived until she was sixteen. The journey included passage aboard the WWII carrier, the USS Enterprise, with stops in Hawaii along the way. After returning to the continental United States, she completed her high school education at Newfound Regional High School in Bristol, NH.

Nancy met the love of her life, Ransom "Randy" Davis, Jr., in Danbury. They were married on October 18, 1962, in Bristol, and shared a devoted partnership for 47 years until Randy's passing in 2009. Together, they lived in Bristol and Danbury before settling in Andover in 1965, where they raised their seven children.

Nancy embraced motherhood as a stay-at-home mom and was actively involved in her children's lives, including participating in the 4-H club. An avid reader, she could often be found at the Batchelder Library with her children. Summers were spent at nearby Highland Lake, where Nancy enjoyed many cookouts, swimming with her family and relaxing under a tree with a good book.

Her professional life began at a local electronics factory and later at the East Andover Village Store. When Randy became ill and disabled in 1987, Nancy began working full-time as a housekeeper at Proctor Academy.

She continued her career in 1999 at New London Hospital, where she worked until her retirement in 2011.

Nancy greatly enjoyed her retirement, spending treasured time with her children and grandchildren and traveling to beloved places such as the Eastern Townships of Quebec, the beaches of Maine, and visits with family in tidewater Virginia and eastern Connecticut. In 2019, due to health concerns, she moved to Gerrish Manor in Boscawen.

Nancy was predeceased by her beloved husband Randy and her parents, Frank and June Brown. Members of her surviving family include her brother Launie Brown and his wife Bertha of Danbury, NH; her seven children, Amy Diggett and her husband Joseph of Danielson, CT, Bonny Morris and her husband John of Andover, NH, Ransom "Randy" Davis III and his wife Roseanne of Andover, NH, Jeannette Shedd of Newbury, NH, Nannette Cain and her husband Phillip of Franklin, NH, Matthew Davis and his wife Amanda of Hampton, NH, and Glen Davis and his wife Kathy of Mathews, VA. She was so very proud of her family legacy; twelve grandchildren Zachary Cochrane (Liz), Ty Morris (Samantha), Ryan Davis (Nelle), Alex Diggett, Haley Peters (Joe Kang), Erika Morin (Alan), Dr. Breanna Furlong (Sean), Tessa Peters, Brendan Cain (Samantha), Keith Davis (Olivia), Cordell Davis (Jessica), and Jacqui Morris-Hundal (Joban); and seven great-grandchildren Maxine and Celine Davis, Ella Cochrane, Maybelle and Rozzie Morris, Oliver Cain and Everett Morin. She also leaves her sister-in-law and three brothers-in-law, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Nancy will be deeply missed by her family. We love you, Mom.

Family and friends may call at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London, NH on Saturday, January 3, 2026 from 2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. followed by a program until 4:00 p.m. A spring burial will take place at the Lake View Cemetery in East Andover, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The NH Food Bank, 700 East Industrial Park Drive, Manchester, NH 03109 or Gerrish Manor, 325 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303.

Not sure what to say?

I’m so sorry to hear about your Mom’s passing! You are in our thoughts and in our hearts. Xx Jill

Chris and I would like to send our condolences to you all with the passing of your mother. Although we didn't really know her well, we know she raised remarkable children. You all remain close and share your love of each other so publicly, it's admirable and something I'm sure your mom was proud of. Keep doing so, especially sharing memories of her, and you'll find a greater closeness. Sending love...(Love the pics you shared on here!)

My heart is broken. Nancy was one of those people that made everyone feel like they were family. Especially me growing up. I will never forget her smile and laugh, ever!!
I want to be there today to be there for each of you but the flu keeps me away. Please know that I love you!

Nancy in Connecticut

Our mother always made sure birthdays were truly celebrated and that each of us felt special—every single year, without exception. This photo was taken at my very surprised 50th birthday party. She was 69 at the time, yet she carried the wonder of a child and a joyful, youthful spirit. She never acted her age, and that was her superpower.

To all of you... we are so sorry for your loss. Nancy was the most happiest person I've ever known, always laughing and with a beautiful smile. I have such wonderful memories and I will cherish all of them. Sending our love to all of you.
Love you Nancy, thank you for everything.
