Nancy Jane Dewey

1938 - 2019

Nancy Jane Dewey, of Chester, passed away on August 23, 2019. She was the widow of Carroll Dewey. She was born on August 25, 1938, in N. Adams, MA, the daughter of Harry N. Embry and Sophie (Sullivan) Embry. She was a lifelong Boston Red Sox and NY Giants fan. She loved bowling,swimming,and traveling with her best friend Franny Koslowy. All that knew her loved her even though she could be a bit cranky at times. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Nancy is survived by her son Stephen Dewey and his wife Donna of Woodland Park, CO; daughters Crystal Dewey of Manchester, NJ, Brenda Ammermann and her husband Bruce of Moodus, and Dawn Dewey of Essex; siblings Harry F. Embry of Florida, MA and Carol Levesque of N. Adams, MA; grandchildren Hunter Farber, Alexis Cooney, Kimberly, Jason, and Isiah Ammermann, Jody Dube, Maureen Scheese, Amanda Olson, Jordan Dewey, Taylor Miner, and Benjamin Clark. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters Mildred Brouillett, Virginia Shaw, Ruth Girard, and Leona Embry, and her brother Nelson Embry. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 28th from 6-8pm at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 29th at 10:30am in St. Joseph Church, 48 Middlesex Turnpike, Chester. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chester.
