Not sure what to say?

When I joined Channel 9, WNYS, as a news photographer/reporter in June of 1968, Nancy was a reporter at Channel 5, WHEN. We would frequently cover the same stories; competing stations doing the same work. Seven years my senior, Nancy "took me under her wing." She, more than anyone else, taught me the lay of the land in Syracuse news and helped me learn the art of TV news reporting. Competitors, yes. Great professional friends, you bet. RIP Nancy.

First as a reporter, then as a friend and client, Nancy was a class act. We followed her career and her family as it grew. We're sorry for her loss, and sorry we weren't here to celebrate her life.

Dick & June Brickwedde

I had the great pleasure of working with Nancy when she hosted a TV show I produced for Channel 13, Community Connection. I can still hear her laughter, and how she made those mundane pre-production meetings fun!

Once I commented to her on how quickly a new hire at Channel 9 came up to speed, as she had started just before the election. Nancy quietly agreed, but then she said, "Well, she's not like you & I....." when I questioned this remark, she said something that stays with me...

My sincere condolences to the family & friends of Ms. Duffy as you mourn your loss. I grew up in Central NY and Ms. Duffy was one of the few local, career newscasters that I trusted and admired. God's peace to all.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life’s routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

To the family of Nancy,

On behalf of the Central NY Chapter of the National Organization for Women, we wanted to express our deepest sympathies in your loss. We share your grief for this terrific woman, who did more for others than for herself. Nancy was the recipient of CNYNOW's 1984 Unsung Heroine Award in Trailblazing. As she blazed her own path in broadcasting and communication, she made sure she helped other women along the way with her special kindness and humility. We will...

Nancy and I delivered our babies on the same day or a day apart. My son was born on 3/4/70 and Nancy was my "roommate." She was very friendly and her husband took pictures of my son and sent me the slides when I got home. We take them out every so many years to look at them and remember the kindness of a stranger. We did run into Nancy a few times after that at the State Fair when her children were young. She always had a smile on her face and I felt as if I knew her whenever I saw her...

The class of 57 from St. Mary's will keep Nancy in our prayers and hearts forever.
