Nancy Duff Duty, 83 of Raleigh, departed this earth from her family home on June 24, 2018, with her family by her side.
Nancy was born in Philadelphia, PA, to George and Irene Duff. She spent the summers of her youth at the shore with her family in Wildwood Crest, NJ. Later in life, Nancy often reminisced about the good times spent at Crest Pier. Nancy moved to NC after marrying her husband, Donald B Duty, whom she met at a USO dance. They raised five children together. Nancy loved her family and friends, and she loved to travel. Her intelligence and good sense of humor made it easy for her to achieve life-long friendships, as she was so delightful to be around.
Preceded in death by her husband, Donald B. Duty; her parents, George and Irene Duff; her brother John Duff; and a sister Patricia Scholl. She has reunited with them, along with many of her good friends.
Nancy is survived by her five children; Steve Duty (Roz), Irene Pearce (Steve), David Duty (Roseann), Cindy Duty (Tim), and Don Duty. Her sister; Jane Duff (Gordon), and a legacy of ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 29th from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary's St., Raleigh. A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 30th at 11:00 am, at Brown-Wynne. Burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Cir. Raleigh, NC 27607.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude for all the support received from friends, Transitions Hospice, and CenterPeace Home Heath Care Agency.

My deepest condolences to all of Nancy`s family.I I have known this family since 1970. I worked for Don Duty at the firestone tire store on Dawson street and again when he opened his first Duty tire store in Garner.I have watched the children grow and become wonderful mature adults.I have always had the upmost respect for Nancy and considered her a very dear friend.I know she will be forever missed.

I had the opportunity of caring for Ms Duty during her declining illness. She was undoubtedly a client I will never forget-a lady full of gratitude, kindness and a heart of gold.

I met Nancy in 1998 and we became close friends.
I will always remember her smile , laughter, warmth, and generosity. I feel honored to have known Nancy and to have been one of her friends.
She will be dearly missed.
