American literature has lost a voice of those who have often cried themselves to sleep because of the nonunderstanding of their peers of a deep love felt by those of the same sex. Nancy liked the Quaker phrase, 'holding you in the light', and her light was ever bright, true and steadfast. She was my friend, role model, teacher, editor, inspiration, and my second mother, along with Sandy. I will miss her dearly.
