Nancy D. Lassiter EDENTON - Nancy Elizabeth Davenport Lassiter, 90, of the 100 block of Hobbs Acre Drive, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010 at Chowan Hospital. A Perquimans County native, she was the daughter of the late Minnie Gertrude and Carlie Benjamin Davenport and the wife of the late Albert Ervin Lassiter. Mrs. Lassiter was a Gold Star member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 40 and a member of Countryside Church of Christ. She was a homemaker. Surviving Mrs. Lassiter are three daughters, Peggy Goodwin Johnson and husband Clayton of Zuni, Va., Anna Brewster and husband Bruce of Chesapeake and Minnie Hughes of Edenton; and one stepdaughter, Annie Laura Bedell of Suffolk; two sisters, Martha Hawkins of Columbia, N.C., and Nelda Jones and husband Ted of Havelock, N.C.; one brother, Edmond Davenport and wife Brenda of Edenton; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard E. Goodwin Jr.; a beloved son-in-law, Bert Hughes; one sister, Vera Butler; two brothers, Carlie Boy and Guilford Davenport; three grandsons; three great- grandsons; and two great- great-granddaughters. A celebration of Mrs. Lassiter's life will be held Thursday, Oct. 7, in Evans Funerals and Cremations Chapel at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Jim Conners officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. A visitation will be at 112 Hobbs Acre. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund at Countryside Church of Christ.
